Yes, Re:generation is only for those 18 and over.
Yes, childcare is provided for children sixth grade and younger, and all of our workers are background-checked. When you arrive, you can head to the kids check-in area (we can help direct you), check in your kids, enjoy the night, then pick them up before you leave.
Yes. Re:generation is for everyone. Here, you’ll find people working through all different types of things. Here is a list of some of those things: loneliness, social anxiety, hatred of others, insecurity, body image, codependency, self-worth, fear, apathy, evil thoughts, abandonment, PTSD, resentment, pride, passivity, gossip, isolation, lying, and many more. God wants you to be free no matter what you’re struggling with!
Attending a group on Tuesday night is free. The only expense you’ll have is buying the books. The first book you’ll need to start the process is ‘Groundwork’ - and the cost is $20. Once you get into a Step Group, you will purchase your Step Books every couple of months for $20 each for a total of $120 throughout the course of your Closed Group. But don’t worry about that now, just show up Tuesday and get started. We never want cost to prevent you from pursuing freedom in Christ, so if finances are an issue, please email us at regeneration@esurrectionchurch.com, and we will discuss options available for you.
It only takes a few minutes every day. While working through your Groundwork Book you should set aside about 15 minutes every day, and your Closed Group Step Books take around 30 minutes each day. From start to finish, plan on the entire process to take about 10-12 months. That may sound like a long time, but most of us have been hurting for much longer than that, and God will use these months to give you hope and peace and set the rest of your life, and eternity, on a whole new trajectory - if you’ll let Him.
Re:generation meets every Tuesday night at 6:30 at Resurrection Church Tacoma and has a large group, small group format. When you arrive on Tuesday night, you will head into the Mayflower (Student) Room, find an open seat and listen to a testimony or teaching. After the large group time, everyone will break into their small groups. If you would like to continue in the process, you will begin Groundwork, which includes light daily curriculum to prepare you for a Step Group where you will begin the 12 steps.
It's pretty simple. Just go to the Info Desk or look for someone with an "I can Help" lanyard. We'll be ready with an answer!
Teens worship with their families on Sunday but have their own Student Gatherings on Wednesdays to make friends, grow their faith, and have some fun. You can find out more here.
We offer an amazing Kids Ministry at our gathering. Children learn about God and his story, have fun, and more in a safe environment. Learn more here.
Our gatherings are usually around an hour and fifteen minutes each. Most people grab coffee in the lobby first, chat a little, then find a seat. The worship experience is normally singing songs, scripture readings, the sermon, and then we finish with an active response (like communion or prayer), some more singing, and announcements last.
King of Glory Lutheran, the building we use, has plenty of parking next to it. Follow the parking signs and you'll see plenty of spaces!
- Share the Story – Send any photos or videos you’d like to meetups@resurrectionchurch.com and share the story of your meet-up with the rest of Resurrection Church. Include a couple sentences that describe how it went.
- Follow Up – After your meet-up, reach out to the people who attended:
- Start by thanking them for coming!
- Ask them to send any photos/videos they would like to share with the rest of Resurrection to meetups@resurrectionchurch.com along with a couple sentences describing your meet-up.
- Ask how their experience was and if they have any ideas they’d like to share for meeting in the future. If your meet-up is recurring, tell them how you’ll be communicating in the future if it’s not over email (Facebook Group, GroupMe, etc).
- This is a great time to remind people about Life Groups and let them know when the next signups are scheduled by going to resurrectionchurch.com/groups.
- Maintain your Meet-up listing: We want to ensure that meet-ups stay fresh and have a high level of engagement from both hosts and participants, so we require all recurring meet-ups to be renewed on our quarterly schedule. This gives our hosts an easy exit if they feel the meet-up has reached a natural end, or if their availability changes. It also helps us be sure that no one signs up for a meet-up that has fizzled out already.
- Arrive Early – Make sure to arrive early to welcome and orient people when they show up.
- Double-Check the Waivers – If your meet-up requires a waiver, be sure everyone who signed up has signed and agreed to the waiver, especially if someone brings guests who didn’t RSVP beforehand.
- Stay Safe – Remember, this is your event. Encourage responsibility among everyone involved so that everyone stays safe and comfortable.
- Get to Know Stories – You don’t just go to church together, you are the church. Be intentional with your conversations and get to know the stories of others.
- Capture the Moments – Remember to take photos and/or videos of your meet-up for sharing afterward.
- Talk about the Future – If your meet-up is going to be recurring, let people know the next time you’re going to meet or tell them when you will have the next event planned and how you will communicate with them.
- Check-in with your RSVPS – Not everyone is a planner like you. Be sure to send out an email and/or a personal text to remind everyone when and where to meet as well as what they need to bring. If your meet-up is recurring, personally contact newcomers and don’t be afraid to ask regular attenders to help with the details.
- Need to Cancel? – If you are uncomfortable with the number of people who RSVP, or if weather or plans change, you have the freedom to cancel your meet-up at any point. Just make sure you let your RSVPs know ahead of time, and email meetups@resurrectionchurch.com if you need to remove your meet-up post from the website/app.
- Choose a Chat Method – If your meet-up will be recurring, consider creating a Facebook group or GroupMe for ongoing communication with your regular attenders. Tell people about it at your meet-up and in your follow-up email.
- Invite People – Don’t forget to personally invite some your friends to your meet-up. Give them a call, use social media, or shoot them a text. If you’re part of a Life Group, invite them to host the meet-up with you and ask them to invite their friends. Meet-ups can be a great place to create connection in your Life Group and encourage newcomers to join your group as well. Your meet-up will also be publicly communicated on the Meet-ups Event Page, the Church Center app, and periodically in a Sunday announcement.
- Make a Plan – If your meet-up relies on being outside, good weather conditions, or a reservation, make sure to figure out the details before it’s too late. If necessary, make an agenda for the day of and communicate it to your RSVPs.
- Check your Email – All of your RSVPs will be sent directly to you by email. It’s a good idea to reply to any RSVPs welcoming them as soon as possible. If your meet-up has a max number of registrants, your event will say when it’s full on the signups page—email the Meet-ups Team as soon as possible if you want to add spots or close registration prior to your event.
- Digital Waivers – If your meet-up involves any potential physical dangers (hikes, swimming, traveling as a group, etc), the Meet-ups Team will add a Meet-ups Digital Waiver to registration. If anyone does not agree to the waiver, they will not be able to attend your event.
We believe that God created humans as "embodied souls." This means you are more than just a body, but that your body is intricately connected to who you are as a person. The Bible says that from the beginning God created two separate and distinct biological sexes: male and female. He said this was “very good.” Scripture does not permit any difference between biological sex and gender identity. Any attempt to misconstrue the difference between male/female and/or biological sex/gender identity is a rejection of God’s created order and an attempt to self-create, which is sin. We also acknowledge that there are rare instances where people are born with an indiscriminate biological sex. Yet, these cases do not involve an attempt to self-create nor deny the dignity of how they were born (Gen. 1:26-27; Matt. 19:4; Mark 10:6-7; Psalm 139:14).
We understand that we have LGBTQ+ neighbors, friends, and family members. We believe they have the same value, dignity, and worth all humans have, and should be treated with immense love and kindness. However, we believe humans are called to live as God intended both with gender & marriage.
We believe God has ordained marriage and defined it as a covenantal relationship between one man & one woman for life. So, we only recognize marriage between a biological man and a biological woman. As a result, Resurrection Church only facilitates weddings and the solemnization of marriages between one man and one woman (Gen. 2:24; Matt. 19:4; Eph. 5:25; 1 Pet. 3:7).

We believe that the Bible is God's word. When we read and preach the Bible, God is speaking to us. We believe the Bible is inspired (God wrote it through humans), inerrant (without big "E" errors), and infallible (it doesn't deceive us). We believe that the Bible is our lens to view culture and not the other way around. Here is an article we like on this topic.
Theology and good works don’t save us. Jesus saves.
You don't need to hold all of our views to attend our church or to be loved by God. But, we do have beliefs and convictions that we care about and believe in. We will preach, teach, and lead from these. As long as you are okay with that, then so are we.
Meetups help provide a space for connection around a common interest. Life Groups are the heartbeat of Resurrection Church and provide a place to share your life, study the Word, and support others through discipleship, accountability, and mission. Life Groups are where you can make close bonds, learn the joy of serving others, and take your next step in following Jesus.
Meetups will help you connect with the wider church family by doing things you love together. Many group members appreciate the long-lasting, committed relationships they've found in their Life Groups, but may feel disconnected from others in their life stage, or from the people they see at Sunday Gatherings. Meetups help fill this gap in relationship.
Upcoming Meetups will be listed on the Meetups homepage, as well as, occasionally shared on Resurrection Church's social media page, or in our weekly newsletter. Also, at the beginning of each month, meet-ups will be announced from stage at the Sunday gathering. For the most part, general ongoing traffic to the meet-ups homepage should help give exposure to new Meetups, as well as word of mouth and personal invitations from the host.
Meetups are events hosted by you, the host, so the liability for meet-up hosts is equivalent to inviting friends to participate in a private event you’ve organized. Participants for meet-ups with potential physical dangers complete the Meetup Digital Waiver which releases the host and Resurrection Church from physical liability. If you have a concern about liability, we would suggest not hosting at your home.
Meetups are independently hosted by the people of Resurrection Church. They are external events planned and supervised by the Meetup hosts themselves, and Resurrection communicates their events to our church body. To limit liability, we require background checks for all Meetup hosts, as well as Release Waivers for participants in Meetups that involve potential physical danger.
Meetups communicated by Resurrection Church should revolve around a primary activity that is not explicitly controversial. “Trivia Night” (at a pub in your neighborhood) makes sense. On the other hand, “Let’s get drinks” does not, because we don’t know what is going on behind-the-scenes in someone’s life. We ask that you use wisdom and discernment when planning your event and seek to be more inclusive of a larger audience.
Each event should be listed with a capacity limit. If your event does not have one listed, email meetups@resurrectionchurch.com right away so it can be added. If not enough people have RSVPd, don't be discouraged! This can happen from time to time. We encourage you to try reorganizing your Meetup at a later date with more notice, or consider trying a different idea.
In general, Meetup hosts and participants must fund their own event and provide their own venue. Resurrection Church may consider helping fund your meet-up is if it is service or mission oriented. Contact meetups@resurrectionchurch.com for more info .
Meetups are events hosted by the people of Resurrection Church that bring people together to create meaningful friendships around the things they love. Whether it’s hiking, reading, painting, or eating tacos, anyone can host or join a meet-up centered on something they enjoy doing. Hosting a meet-up is easy, whether it be a one-time thing, or recurring.
Yes! Sign up as soon as possible!! Life Groups fill up fast, so the sooner you sign up, the more likely it is that you’ll get your first choice.
Your Life Group leader or host will contact you before your Life Group starts to give you directions and help answer any questions you have. You will also receive an email from our system once you sign up with all your life group details.
You can sign up during Life Group sign-ups as you exit Sunday service, or you can also sign up online during our regular sign-ups.
We recommend choosing a group based on its leader and their station in life—rather than by location or meeting time. Groups usually do best when members share common interests and challenges. In the end, you’ll find it’s worth the drive! If you need help finding the right group (especially if you are new to Resurrection Church), please don’t hesitate to call us. And just as a heads up, sometimes it takes trying two or three groups before you find the perfect fit—but don’t worry, you’ll find it!
Most Life Groups are for adults only, though a few groups offer childcare at their meetings. We are working on launching more! This means, for most Life Groups, each family needs to arrange for their own childcare. Sometimes families share a sitter with another family or even swap childcare with another family whose Life Group meets on a different evening. We realize this is a big commitment, but the best spiritual gift you can give your kids is growing parents—and it’s so crucial for you to model this growth in your life. We believe that your spiritual growth in a Life Group is one of the best investments you can make in your child’s spiritual future.
Few things in life are free, and Life Groups are no exception! The cost of Life Groups is the cost of commitment! At your first meeting, your group will complete a commitment together. This simple form will help you discuss your goals and clarify your commitment. Part of that commitment is the promise to attend each week and complete the study. When you join a Life Group, you promise to attend and come prepared each week. It’s this commitment that makes Life Groups work. We realize it’s a big commitment, but it only lasts ten weeks.
Most groups will do the “message-based study”, called the Life Group Study, designed to apply what you learned from the sermon on the weekend. We’ll share what we learn from our Life Group Study each week. Our goal is to learn how to live out our faith in everyday life as we grow in becoming passionate Christ-followers. The study is designed to take 20–40 minutes and takes you to other passages in the Bible that address the same topic and ask practical questions to help you apply the message.
Joining a Life Group requires a 10-week commitment to attend each week and do the study ahead of time. Coming prepared each week with completed Life Group study questions or reading assignments is essential. That will allow you to effectively learn and grow together as we live out our faith in everyday life and become passionate Christ-followers. Allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts, and other special events – however, a strong commitment is the key to strong groups.
Each Life Group session lasts ten weeks. At the end of each session, you’ll have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group, or taking a break. Most groups stay together throughout the entire year.
Life Groups meet on various days and nights each week throughout the region. There are three 10-week sessions each year in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. (Life Groups do not meet during the summer or during the winter holiday from Thanksgiving through New Year.)
Life Groups are the core of our ministry here at Resurrection Church. They’re where life happens as we study God’s Word, grow together, and share our lives. They are the primary way we connect, build relationships, and care for one another.
Life Groups meet for ten weeks and generally consist of 10-16 people. They meet weekly to study God’s Word and build relationships. The groups are offered three times a year – fall, winter, and spring, taking a break for winter holidays and summer months and are one of the main ways to experience Resurrection Life here at Resurrection Church.
We are a non denominational christian church that holds things in tension. We are biblically based and Spirit led. We are Christ-centered and community focused. We honor the past and look to the future. We are theologically conservative and culturally liberated (i.e. we enjoy culture but won’t bow down to cultural idols). Ultimately, we take God seriously, but not ourselves.
Heck yes! We support local business by buying from our neighbors, Manifesto Coffee. And if you’re not a coffee drinker, why? Are you okay? Just kidding, we have tea & hot chocolate too!
Our gatherings are usually around an hour and fifteen minutes each.
Whatever you feel comfortable or what you generally where in public. T-shirt and jeans? Cool! A dress or button up shirt? Cool! A speedo? Not cool!
